A boy of 8yrs in 409BC China is a fantastically bizarre inventor, what could he have created?
Q. Example: When he was 12yrs old he created a device that allowed donkeys to traverse vertical slopes. Try and think of inventions that reflect his age of 8yrs (or earlier) and his environment. Bizarre and fantastic please!

A. Sure, but this is true. In about 500 BC, a young Chinese boy of about 7 years in age, named Ming Ling, from Canton, invented a self-watering cricket cage (crickets were kept as revered pets) in which the cricket ran along a treadmill that was connected to a small wooden mechanical pump. The more the cricket ran, the more water he pumped, the more he pumped, the more thirsty he got, the more water he had to drink. Ming Ling's father, Ming Wing, a biologist at Canton University, observed that crickets were not meant to run, nor to get thirsty, nor to pump water, which explained why the crickets died within 24 hours of using the new cage. Many crickets died in the resulting Cricket Crisis of 498 BC, but none of them died thirsty.

How to I treat this bizarre football injury?
Q. Whenever I throw a football for any real length of time, I get terrible pains behind my elbow and the more I push it, the more it spreads through out my arm (I have actually made my whole arm numb for a couple minutes one afternoon because I kept throwing). I don't have a particular wacky throwing motion. It's sort of side arm, but nothing crazy and I throw tight spirals with good distance. What is wrong and what do I do?

A. Sounds like something is "out of place" on your shouder or elbow, and that could be compressing a nerve. Stop all physical activity and go see a doctor at once. If you push it bad enough you can end up snapping the nerve and having a limp arm.

How bizarre is the sacking of Gareth Southgate at this early stage of the season?
Q. With Middlesbrough currently in joint 3rd place with Cardiff City in the Coca-Cola Championship behind Newcastle and West Brom, why has Steve Gibson decided to part company with Southgate now? Surely if sacking Southgate was on Gibson's mind, then you would have thought he would have done so at the end of last season when their relegation to the Coca-Cola Championship was confirmed.
