A juicer is a tool for extracting juice from fruits The term has different meanings dependent on context. In non-technical usage, such as food preparation, fruit normally means the fleshy seed-associated structures of certain plants that are sweet and edible in the raw state, such as apples, oranges, grapes, strawberries, juniper berries and bananas, or the similar-looking structures in other, vegetables The noun vegetable usually means an edible plant or part of a plant other than a sweet fruit or seed. This usually means the leaf, stem, or root of a plant, or wheatgrass Wheatgrass is a food prepared from the cotyledons of the common wheat plant, Triticum aestivum. It is sold either as a juice or powder concentrate. Wheatgrass differs from wheat malt in that it is served freeze dried or fresh while wheat malt is convectively dried. Wheatgrass is also allowed to grow longer than malt is. It provides chlorophyll,. This is known as juicing Juicing is the process of squeezing juice from fruit or vegetables. A juicer may be used to accomplish this.

A citrus juicer is used for squeezing juice from soft-centered, citrus Citrus is a common term and genus of flowering plants in the rue family, Rutaceae, originating in tropical and subtropical southeast regions of the world. The most well known examples are the oranges, lemons, grapefruit and limes fruits The term has different meanings dependent on context. In non-technical usage, such as food preparation, fruit normally means the fleshy seed-associated structures of certain plants that are sweet and edible in the raw state, such as apples, oranges, grapes, strawberries, juniper berries and bananas, or the similar-looking structures in other (orange An orange—specifically, the sweet orange—is the citrus Citrus ×sinensis and its fruit. The orange is a hybrid of ancient cultivated origin, possibly between pomelo (Citrus maxima) and tangerine (Citrus reticulata).[citation needed] It is a small flowering tree growing to about 10 m tall with evergreen leaves, which are arranged alternately,, lemon The lemon is both a small evergreen tree native to Asia and the tree's oval yellow fruit. The fruit is used for culinary and nonculinary purposes throughout the world – primarily for its juice, though the pulp and rind (zest) are also used, mainly in cooking and baking. Lemon juice is about 5% to 6% (approximately 0.3 Molar) citric acid, which, lime Lime is a term referring to a number of different fruits, both species and hybrids, citruses, which have their origin in the Himalayan region of India and which are typically round, green to yellow in color, 3–6 cm in diameter, and containing sour and acidic pulp. Limes are often used to accent the flavours of foods and beverages. They are, grapefruit The grapefruit , is a subtropical citrus tree known for its bitter fruit, an 18th-century hybrid first bred in Barbados. When found it was named the "forbidden fruit"; it has also been misidentified with the pomelo or shaddock (C. maxima), one of the parents of this hybrid, the other being sweet orange (C. × sinensis)). It has a conical ridged center. Centering the halves of fruit with their cut-side down over the juicer, a user presses the fruit down and turns the fruit back and forth to extract juice, discarding the fruit afterwards. [[Juice.

A hand-held kitchen utensil version is known as a "lemon reamer A lemon reamer is a small kitchen utensil used to extract the juice from a lemon or other small citrus fruit", "citrus reamer," or simply a "reamer." Electric versions exist.

Juice extractor

A juice extractor is a machine that mechanically separates juice from the solid part (pulp) of most fruits The term has different meanings dependent on context. This usually means the leaf, stem, or root of a plant, leafy greens, and herbs In American English the initial "h" is normally silent: /ˈɜrb/.[Full citation needed] In standard British English the "h" is pronounced: /ˈhɜːb/ Also see American and British English pronunciation differences. In Canada, it is pronounced either with or without the "h". The pulp is usually discarded, but can also be used in muffins and breads or composting Compost is composed of organic materials derived from plant and animal matter that has been decomposed largely through aerobic decomposition. The process of composting is simple and practiced by individuals in their homes, farmers on their land, and industrially by industries and cities.

Most juice extractors are electric, which requires less effort than their manual counterparts. A juicer differs from a blender A blender, or liquidiser in British English, is a kitchen appliance used to mix ingredients or puree food. Blenders are also used to prepare emulsions, such as mayonnaise, and cream soups. Blenders are to be distinguished from lower-speed hand-powered or electric mixers that are used for mixing applications. The term typically refers to a: a juicer separates the juice from the pulp.

There are three main types of juicer: centrifugal juicers use blades and a sieve to separate juice from pulp; masticating juicers that 'chew' fruit to a pulp before squeezing out the juice; and, triturating juicers that have twin gears to first crush fruit and then press it.

Masticating and triturating juicers can also juice wheatgrass Wheatgrass is a food prepared from the cotyledons of the common wheat plant, Triticum aestivum. It is sold either as a juice or powder concentrate. Wheatgrass differs from wheat malt in that it is served freeze dried or fresh while wheat malt is convectively dried. Wheatgrass is also allowed to grow longer than malt is. It provides chlorophyll, unlike centrifugal juicers that cannot break the fibers of the grass Grasses, or more technically graminoids, are monocotyledonous, usually herbaceous plants with narrow leaves growing from the base. They include the "true grasses", of the Poaceae family, as well as the sedges (Cyperaceae) and the rushes (Juncaceae). The true grasses include cereals, bamboo and the grasses of lawns (turf) and grassland.

The single auger masticating juicer uses a profiled screw style moulding to compact and crush fruit and vegetable matter against a static screen allowing juice to flow through the screen while pulp is expelled through a separate outlet.

Twin gear triturating machines are usually the most expensive juicers offering the best juice yield. Twin gear juicers employ two metal counter rotating gears to crush the juicing fodder. The precise tolerance of the gears allows the juice to flow through the gap between the gears while the large pulpy matter passes along the top of the gears and is discharged.

Nutrition

Fruits and vegetables have powerful nutritional properties that can help people with many types of health problems. Juicing can contain concentrated amounts of phytochemicals Phytochemicals are chemical compounds such as beta-carotene that occur naturally in plants. The term is generally used to refer to those chemicals that may affect health, but are not yet established as essential nutrients. While there is abundant scientific and government support for recommending diets rich in fruits and vegetables, there is only and antioxidants An antioxidant is a molecule capable of inhibiting the oxidation of other molecules. Oxidation is a chemical reaction that transfers electrons from a substance to an oxidizing agent. Oxidation reactions can produce free radicals. In turn, these radicals can start chain reactions that damage cells. Antioxidants terminate these chain reactions by, living enzymes and vitamins, substances that fight cancer, and substances that reduce inflammation and pain.

How to clean stained stainless steel and plastic parts to juicer?
Q. I borrowed a juicer from a friend and used it much more than she ever did. Now I want to return it, but there is one plastic piece of it that is stained (from carrots and beets) and a stainless steel part that is discolored a bit in parts from the same. Any ideas for getting the stains out?
