How does decantering change the flavour of wine, and what words describe the different states of the wine?
Q. Is there a special word to describe wine in a bottle that has just been opened- what about after it has been decanted? How does the flavour change?

A. A wine is decanted for one of two reasons: 1) To separate any sediment or tartrates that may have collected in the bottle. 2) To allow the wine an increased contact with the air. Regardless of what may have been found on a radio program, decanting to airate a wine certainly does alter the wine itself. I am confident that, for a wine that requires airation, I would be able to tell if it had been allowed to breathe, been decanted or not. A wine that is too young (aka tight, closed or green) should be airated in a wide decanter in order to allow enough reaction with the air to open (aka broaden, widen, develop). A tight wine will show little of its potential character and should be decanted in order to offer many more flavours and a more… [cont.]

Any tips on how to have that delicious smoky flavour when using an electric griller?
Q. My mom bought this electric griller with Teflon surface so the meat doesn't stick and burn. We have been using this griller since then because our outdoor griller is pretty old and broken. Plus, the electric griller is easier to use and doesn't get your hands dirty unlike with the one using coals. But the thing I've noticed is, the meat, although looking all delicious and not charred, it always lack this tasty smoky flavour you get when you grill meat using coal. Have you guys experience this as well, or is it just me? Why is that? Do you guys have any helpful ideas or tips that perhaps can give this smoky flavour back into the meat? I don't really want to go back to grilling using coals if I could help it since it's too much work. … [cont.]

A. Buy some Liquid Smoke. It's an awesome product that adds a wonderful smoky flavor into foods. You can brush it onto foods or add it to recipes. I've even added it to barbecue sauces if they aren't smoky enough for me. The brand I usually use is Wright's, and the link is below.

What do these ingredients add to the flavour of something?
Q. I am making scones and I am going to add basil and sun dried tomatoes. What would basil add to the scones? What would sun dried tomatoes add the scones? You need to think about flavour and texture and taste. what texture will they give it? and what flavour?
Asked by What - Fri Oct 9 12:41:37 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Wow, that sounds yummy! The basil (is it fresh or dried?) will add a different flavour (more sharp) and the sun dried tomatoes are going to change the texture as well as the flavour. Make sure you drain the tomatoes well and dice them small. I recommend eating these scones hot with a bit of soft spreadable feta. You've made me hungry!

How do they flavour the inside of sunflower seeds?
Q. Just a random thought (: How do they get the inside of the sunflower seed flavourful, without opening it? Or is it just that the shell has all the flavour? :D
Asked by Eloise - Thu Jul 17 09:46:07 2008 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Just a note: They do not bake them, the FRY them. Deep fry it. Roasted salted seeds are very bad for your health and I would not eat it if I were you. In the long run, you would feel much healthier with raw seeds, which can be sprouted, and salted (with GOOD pure sea salt) and dehydrated at a low temperature. Tastes much better than any roasted and salted seed I had. Food should taste good.

Where can I find Danziger Gold Liqueur, golden orange flavour in Texas?

It's delicious with a few drops of cranberry juice or just on the rocks. I can't seem to find a distributor in Texas to buy more and my friends and I are really wanting to buy a few bottles. Does anyone know where I can purchase this brand of liqueur?

Can I add charcoal to a Propane BBQ and add some extra flavour?

Q. They taste metallic, almost none of the sweet flavour I'm used to. Any suggestions?

A. Blueberries really don't have much flavor compared to other fruit. However, dried blueberries tend to have a sweeter flavor, as well as a "blueberry" taste so try those rather than frozen ones.

What is in "artificial chicken flavour" - Asian soup flavour sachets?
Q. It's not practical for me to contact the company that makes this product (sachets of Wonton soup powder from overseas) to ask them what this "flavour" ingredient contains. Does anyone know what is usually in this stuff? Do you reckon it would be vegetable based? I'm not asking what's in the sachet - I'm asking what this artificial flavour which is listed in its ingredients is made out of ;)

A. Hi Mate, Probably Artificial Chooks. My guess that most of them include Salt, Tumeric, Paprika ( and eleven secret herbs and spices). My taste buds refuse to communicate with my brain while eating the stuff. Thank godness my brain does not have a direct line to my stomach. I would say there are 8 packets of salt in each cup of Asian soup.

A. Food does play important role in the flavour. Store purchased beef is kept in a stall or on a feed lot and feed corn products before the slaughter. It is also prepared for slaughter, by injecting with glucose and other things, at the feed lots, depends on the grade, "A", choice, "AA" ---,---. Most lamb is just slaughtered. Major reason for this deference may come from the breed also, but lamb and beef have quite different digestive system and chemistry, (enzyme and peptide, digestive chemicals like stomach acids,---,---,), so on identical diet they still may taste different. Cows have four stomachs. You wrote "they both eat grass" true but they are not feed same type of grass and they are on different diet, if left on their own they… [cont.]
