Q. Well, I'm going into high school next year, and I'm really nervous. I'm definitely not a social butterfly, but i do have a group of close friends and many acquaintances. I was just wondering, do people really separate into specific groups in high school (soccer players, artsies, tech people, etc)?? Or does everyone know each other and everyone is mature enough to be friendly? Also, do you become closer to people because you spend so much time with them, or just have manacquaintanceses because you never have any classes together? Asked by TK - Fri Mar 27 22:38:46 2009 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments A. Just like me, i ain't no social butterfly either. I found, when i moved up to highschool, our group stuck together for the first year or so. But eventually you make new friends from other 'groups' and some of your current friends may or may not like them. You gradually drift apart from some friends, and stick really close with others. Some people aren't mature enough to be friendly, but the majority i say would be okay to get along with fairly well. And the classes, they have an impact to some extent because you get to choose what ones you do, and people with similar interests interact. One of my best friends who i met at high school, is the complete opposite to me, we shared at max about 2 classes a day. Now we're headin off to… [cont.] Answered by cou s - Sun Mar 29 02:01:02 2009 What support groups and genetic counselors are there for the genetic disorder: familial hypercholesterolemia? Q. We are a group of high school students who need to contact a genetic counselor or support group about familial hypercholesterolemia for a biology project. Are there any genetic counselors or groups that you know of? Asked by blackbelt_grl - Wed Nov 19 21:19:36 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. Couldn't find any support groups, but I found the NSGC (National Society of Genetic Counselors) website www.nsgc.org. The menu on the left allows you to search for genetic counselors by specialty or by geography. Hope that helps. Sorry I couldn't find a support group! Answered by Pale Face - Sun Nov 23 19:51:01 2008 What are some groups that advocate for the environment that I can become involved in?
Q. I want to become an advocate for a cause relating to the environment, but I don't know which cause to choose. What are some groups that advocate for the environment that I can become involved in? Asked by Sunday - Tue Apr 21 16:08:18 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. You can see the best results if you get involved with something local. What are the conservation efforts going on in your area? Are there waterways or other wildlife areas needing protection for which there are conservation groups? Is there a local group supporting recycling or alternative energy? In my experience, getting face time with other like minded individuals is better than just dealing with them online or over the phone. Check out your local library, or health food store, and you are likely to find someone who can lead you to a local group that would love to have you on their team!
